Designed to reflect both strength and grace, the new British Embassy in Jakarta stands as an embodiment of modern diplomacy, robust yet harmoniously integrated with its natural surroundings.

Spanning 3,800 m² across three levels within approximately 1.5-hectare site, the building thoughtfully preserves a sacred Banyan Tree, symbolizing respect for heritage and environment.

Meinhardt provided comprehensive Civil, Structural, and MEP Engineering services, ensuring the embassy’s design achieves exceptional sustainability and climate resilience. The building incorporates carbon-neutral principles through the use of sustainable materials, energy-efficient lighting, and rainwater harvesting systems.

Elevated on a protective plinth to prevent flooding, its dense walls and rain-screen façade of charcoal-hued local stone provide natural insulation and shading, minimizing energy demand in Jakarta’s tropical climate.
